Egon Schiele was an Austrian painter in the early 20th century. He tragically died at an early age of twenty eight, however he produced three thousand drawings over the course of his short career. He is mainly known for the many unique portraits and self portraits the artist produced. Egon was strongly influenced by the painter Gustav Klimpt this is shown very much so in the hands of the figures in his drawings. The twisted body shape and expressive lines in his work mark the artist as an early leader of expressionism.
I really like his use of colour and broken shapes and lines to create an ill, distorted feel. This makes me curious about what was going on in his personal life at the time. Maybe he suffered from depression?
