Kate Malone is a British potter, ceramic artist and judge. Her work takes on complex shapes and vibrant colors all inspired by nature. She like to convey a sense of pleasure and optimism, this is very much shown in her use of colour and interesting shapes.
In her career as a potter she has touched on many subjects, however always under the column of Organic. In 1980’s it was nature of the sea, which is linked to our theme, then in the 90’s nature of the land and, most recently under the earth’s’ crust, the magma and crystal formations.
All her pots are carefully hand crafted using the coil technique. The tools she uses are very basic ranging from a small turntable, a hack saw blade, a few wooden tools and her fingers.
